 General Information

MMEA Vice-Presidents are elected by the MMEA membership and serve two-year terms.  

The MMEA Past President is responsible for the following duties, each year during their two-year term:


     

     Position Responsibilities:

  • Represent all levels of Band throughout the state.
  • Attend MMEA Board of Director Meetings (February, April, August).

          *NOTE: MMEA Vice-Presidents serve as a voting members on the MMEA Board of Directors.

  • Submit four articles for the Missouri School Music Magazine (February, April, August, November)
  • Serve on MMEA officer recommendation committee. (odd numbered years)
  • Coordinate the selection process for ten (10) performing ensembles (Band) for the Annual MMEA In-Service Workshop/Conference.
  • Secure and coordinate five (5) clinic sessions for the Annual MMEA In-Service Workshop/Conference.
  • Preside over all Band concerts and clinics at the Annual MMEA In-Service Workshop/Conference.
  • Select Outstanding Music Educator and Outstanding Young Music Educator Awar

MMEA Board of Directors Meetings

  • Location
    • Tan-Tar-A Conference Center
  • Time
    • 9:00am – End of Business
  • Meals
    • A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
  • Lodging 
    • MMEA provides lodging for the Executive Council for all BOD/Executive Council meetings.
      • Lodging arrangements are cooridinated by the MMEA Secretary/Treasurer.
  • Board Meeting Reports
    • Board Meeting Reports must be submitted through the MMEA Website 1st of the month in the month of the meeting date. (April 1 / August 1)
  • Mileage
    • Mileage will be reimbursed at $.38 per mile.
    • Mileage is calculated from the board member’s residence to TTA Conference Center.
    • Milage requests must be submitted through the MMEA Website 1st of the month in the month of the meeting date. (April 1 / August 1)
      • NOTE:  Mileage reimbursement is forfeited if the request is not submitted by the corresponding meeting deadline indicated.

Missouri School Music Magazine

  • Reference

    Article Specifications

    • Executive Council, Vice Presidents, and Advisory Members:
      • Submit articles for (4) editions each year.  (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring)
      • The target word limit is 650.
        • If your article is expected to exceed this word limit, communication  with the editors must be made a minimum of one week prior to the deadline.
    • District Presidents: 
      • Submit articles for (2) editions each year.  (Fall, Spring)
      • The target word limit is 450.
        • If your article is expected to exceed this word limit, communication  with the editors must be made a minimum of one week prior to the deadline.
    • All Articles:
      • Honor all copyrights when submitting information, and give credit to others for ideas not your own. Use the APA writing style for article submissions.
      • Submitted articles should be proofread by at least one other person, and free of grammatical or spelling errors.
      • Articles must be submitted as Microsoft Word documents using the MSM Article Template provided.
        • Google Docs and/or PDF documents are not accepted.
      • All pictures, graphics, and images must be sent as JPEG, PSD, or PNG.
        • PDF files are also accepted, but be aware that print quality is sometimes inadequate. Send pictures/images SEPARATELY from text.
      • All MSM articles must be submitted through the MMEA Website, using the web form below.
      • The editors will format the article as necessary for the magazine.
      • If your article requires special formatting, please communicate with the editors at least one week prior to the deadline.

    • The president will announce the theme for each edition of the MSM one (1) month prior to the submission deadline.
