  Guidelines & processes

Our goal is to have representation from as many colleges and universities across the state as possible.

 

General Eligibility Information

  • All participants must be undergraduate students in good standing and enrolled at your institution for the spring 2026 semester.
  • Participants must be a member of a university orchestra or concert band (if the offering exists).
  • All participants must attend an institution that awards at least an associate’s degree or music minor.
  • It is highly recommended that all participating students be currently enrolled in the applied music studios of your college or university (if the offering exists).
  • Participants must be in attendance at the 2026 MMEA Annual In-Service Workshop/Conference beginning the evening of Monday, January 26 through the performance on the evening of Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

General Nomination/Audition Information

  • An online recommendation entry must be submitted, by the ensemble director, for each string student nominee.
  • Strings are selected by nomination ONLY.
    • The comment section is an important way to advocate for your students’ acceptance.
  • Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion applicants will submit a recording of the designated excerpts via an unlisted Youtube link.
