Guidelines for Electronic Music Contest Submissions
To apply, complete the Entry Form (Below) by 11:59 p.m., November 1, 2025.
- The entry form can be found at mmea.net.
- Entries are limited to Missouri residents in the 6th through 12th grades.
- Limited to one (1) entry per student.
- Entries will be judged based on their aesthetic quality, use of electronic media, form/balance, mixing, and the power of the composition along with its presentation in communicating the excitement and effectiveness of electronic music composition.
- A combination of music industry and MMEA member adjudicators will select a winner in each category: Middle School (6th-8th grades) and High School (9th-12th grades).
- Honorable mention compositions may also be recognized at the discretion of the judging panel and the MMEA technology chair.
- A minimum of five (5) entries must be submitted in each category. If either category has fewer than five entries the categories will be combined.
Composition Guidelines
- All entries must be original works, not arrangements or remixes.
- Compositions may be all electronic, or a combination of acoustic instruments/voices and electronically generated sounds.
- Entries will include a list of any compositional tools used by the composer, as well as an artist’s statement about the composition.
- Five (5) minute time limit.
- All entries must follow all instructions on the entry form (found on MMEA website), including mp3 file naming instructions.
