Dr. Tim Allshouse presents a session will focused on seeing the positive in every day and not quitting when it gets hard.

Membership Roundtable: “Being Prepared and Avoiding Burnout”

Round Table–Slected NAfME C Presidents

Students will share ways in which they personally have been able to maintain a high level of preparation in college while also keeping themselves mentally and emotionally healthy, first in small groups and then as full group.

This will also serve as an opportunity for networking between chapters.

“Aural Awareness in Ensemble Rehearsal”

Join Dr. Anthony Maglione in an exploration of using intonation as a window into building autonomous ensemble musicians. This session will focus on a system for instilling the building blocks of aural musicianship in your ensemble.

Membership Roundtable:  MIOSM 2023 

Selected Presidents of MO NAfME-C Chapters

After discussing what MIOSM is, students will brainstorm ways to participate in MIOSM, first in small groups and then as full group. Each chapter will then have a list of possibilities to take back to their schools to work towards implementing in March 2023 either as an individual institution or in collaboration with others.

This will also serve as an opportunity for networking between chapters.

NAfME-C Business Meeting

MO NAfME-C Executive Board

The MO NAfME-C Exec Board will walk the membership through the recent changes to the Constitution and Bylaws, highlighting the new nomination and election process. They will then answer any questions anyone may have as well as outline the upcoming steps for the nomination process that now takes place in the fall. Remaining time will be dedicated to opening the floor for suggestions for the Exec Board in the form of a Town Hall.

“Not Everyone Gets an A in Music Class: Assessment for the Large Ensemble”

Dr. Sarah Labovitz, Presenter

In this clinic aspiring music educators will learn why individual assessment is important, what it can look like in large ensemble, and how it can be executed without taking focus from the group’s performance goals. Pre-service music educators will learn how to create an assessment plan that is in alignment with their goals for their students and how to collect assessment artifacts that can be used as evidence of individual student growth and as advocacy tools.
