2025 MMEA All-State Children’s Choir Promo

Greetings MMEA Members!

 

I would like to invite you to encourage your fourth and fifth graders to audition for the 2025 MMEA All-State Children’s Choir.  The conductor of the 2025 Children’s Choir will be Victor Johnson.  

 

Victor C. Johnson, a native of Dallas, Texas, is the School Choral Editor for Sing!, the educational publishing division of Choristers Guild. A prolific composer and arranger, he has over 450 choral works, vocal solo books, and keyboard collections currently in print. In addition to his work as a composer and editor, Victor serves a conductor of the Dallas Symphony Children’s Chorus, which serve as the resident children’s chorus for Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Victor is in demand as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician for music educators and students throughout the United States. He has conducted All-State and Regional Honor choirs in the US and Canada. His own choirs have performed at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention as well as the American Choral Directors Association- Southwest Division conference.  

 

To audition, students will make a recording of themselves singing “Ah Poor Bird.”  The notation for this song will be posted on the website.  They will upload this recording to our online audition page.  The audition window is August 15-September 30, and there is a $10 audition fee.  The auditions are judged during October and the roster of selected students is posted November 1.  There is a $60 participation fee, which includes lunch, T-shirt, and music.
